KidSAT Hardware Mission Lab

KidSAT is optional supervised hardware for selected MissionLab missions. Students solve the mission in software first, then a trained operator may run a bounded physical experiment so results can be compared. Learner and public views never receive bridge settings, unrestricted commands or operator authority.

Real one-axis trainer

Reaction-wheel attitude-control experimentation with IMU and electrical telemetry through a bounded local workflow. It is educational hardware, not flight hardware.

Trusted local operation

The operator console connects to a loopback bridge, selects the COM port and sends only allowlisted commands. Explore Mode works without the physical kit.

Separate evidence roles

Digital Twin channels remain simulated or derived. Telemetry from an accepted supervised run is measured. Correlation never becomes flight qualification.

    Physical preflight

    The trained operator confirms the rig, electrical limits, telemetry and emergency stop.

    Bounded session

    Only allowlisted, clamped commands are available during an operator-authorized window.

    Approved physical channels remain separate from simulation truth and estimates.

    Correlation review

    A specific rig may be compared with the one-axis model for training and commissioning evidence.

MissionLab remains the software product

KidSAT is an optional experimentation extension. MissionLab provides the recurring institutional software, missions and Digital Twin experience; software completion never depends on owning hardware.
